Just panic began when two mates barely into their teens got together with an electric guitar, a practice amp and an old tape recorder. Ste and frank would spend hours recording covers of their favourite punk songs with dreams of one day starting their own band. At sixteen, they found guitarist and songwriter Chris Smith and they formed an acoustic three piece. As a three, they gained experience playing their own songs in pubs and small venues over Southport. However, they only saw this as a step towards their original ambition. With this in mind they went in search of a drummer.
At college, Frank came across drummer Pete Martin, who then joined the band at a party later that week. Just Panic was born. The group soon parted with guitarist Chris due to musical differences, but the band continued as a three piece. The band played gigs in their local area, gaining experience and dedicated fans along the way. After recording a three-track demo Just Panic progressed further playing gigs all over Liverpool. They delivered dynamic and energetic performances of their own brand of imaginative, powerful and contagious punk rock.
After a long year of gigging, practising and writing, culminating in support slots for well respected signed bands; Pete decided to leave the band. Despite this slight setback, Ste and Frank's vision of success remained strong and they quickly recruited like-minded college friend Alun Matthews. After the first practice, it was evident that Alun was on the same musical wavelength as the songwriters, and Just Panic had found its perfect line-up.
The future looks extremely exciting and promising for the young musicians, who, after several finger-blistering practices are ready to present their breath-taking music to anyone willing to listen! Just Panic will be sure to be playing gigs all over Merseyside and beyond in the coming months, and will be recording an EP over the Christmas season.
